After the Cenacolo, commissioned by Ludovico il Moro and built in the refectory of the Dominican convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie, the visit continues with the entrance to the church wanted by the Duke of Milan as a family mausoleum: a place rich in viscounty and Sforza symbols, in which the protagonists of the Milanese Renaissance operate, influenced by the novelties coming from central Italy.
The visit also includes the church and the wonderful Tribuna del Bramante, commissioned by Duke Ludovico il Moro to his architect Donato Bramante, in the Renaissance and shining period of the Duchy of Milan.
Then, crossing Corso Magenta, you come to the discovery of a small jewel: San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore called the “Cappella Sistina di Milano”, of ancient foundation.
Here, following Leonardo’s footsteps, you will meet Bernardino Luini, the painter who continues his revolutionary Leonardo’s artistic lesson; his are most of the colourful frescoes that cover the walls of this small sixteeth church.
